I’ve recently bought a 2019 Volkswagen Golf, and I’ve been wanting to customize it a bit to make it more me. One of the things I’ve always loved in cars is the use of vinyl wraps, and I think it could really make my car pop. I don’t want to go the traditional route with paint or anything permanent—I'm looking for something more flexible and something I can change up if I get bored. Plus, vinyl wraps just look so cool, don’t they?
I have no clue where to start with vinyl wraps. Like, I don’t even know the first thing about applying it, what types I should be looking for, or even how to find the right vinyl. I've heard some things about certain kinds of vinyl being better for cars, but then I also see a ton of people using other kinds for walls and interiors, and I’m just wondering what the difference is? Does anyone know what type I should use for my car that would last through the weather, especially since I live in an area with both scorching summers and icy winters?
On top of that, I’m pretty picky about the design. I don’t want to go for anything too flashy (I’m more of a subtle guy), but I would love a custom design, maybe a matte black finish with some accents, or even a cool texture like carbon fiber on parts of the hood and side mirrors. The car already has a nice color, but I feel like vinyl could give it that extra edge. The only issue is, I’m not exactly a pro at graphic design or anything, so I’m looking for an online shop that could help me either create or pick out something good.
I’ve done a bit of searching online for vinyl wraps, and there are so many different options. The ones I’ve found so far are pretty affordable, but I’m concerned about the quality. Has anyone here had experience with some reputable online stores that sell good-quality vinyl wraps? I’ve heard a lot about doing it yourself, but honestly, I don’t think I’m up for the challenge of wrapping it myself. Has anyone hired a professional to do it, or do you think it’s really worth getting a professional installer for something like this? I know some people are all about DIY, but I want it to look perfect, not like a failed Pinterest project.
